Sports law is one of the youngest branches of the Ukrainian legal system. The necessity for developing this branch is determined by the fact that sport, like any other sphere of social relations, requires qualified lawyers who grasp its specifics. Sports law as a complex branch is a system of interdependent legal rules, which consolidate fundamentals, forms, and the order regulating social relations arising in physical culture and sports (civil, labor, financial, commercial, criminal, and social welfare), sports injuries and anti-doping, international, procedural (settling sport disputes) relations. Esports, which arose at the junction of «traditional sports» and information technology, is an innovative, officially recognized sport. Thus, sports law has a new institute – esports law, which requires further scholarly elaboration.
“Lex Sportiva” is of interest to practicing lawyers, athletes, experts in sports, and everyone interested in sports legal science and practice in the application of statutory regulations on physical culture and sports.
